The RCC Blood Bank, located at the Medical College Campus, Thiruvananthapuram – 695011 (Kerala), operates as a full‑fledged transfusion‑medicine division within the Regional Cancer Centre. It was originally started in 1992 and later was upgraded to the status of a Regional Blood Transfusion Centre (RBTC) in 2009. The facility provides collection, screening and separation of blood into components (such as packed red cells, fresh frozen plasma, platelet units, etc.).It also runs voluntary donation drives, counselling services for reactive donors, and follows standard donor‑eligibility and screening protocols (for example, checks for HIV, HBV, HCV, VDRL, malaria) before accepting blood donations.
