Arulmigu Sankaranarayana Swamy Thirukkoil
Arulmigu Sankaranarayana Swamy Thirukkoil, located in Sankarankovil, Tenkasi district, Tamil Nadu, is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Sankaranarayana, a unique form that unites Lord Shiva (Sankara) and Lord Vishnu (Narayana) in one idol. The temple, believed to have been built by King Uthiyan Cheralathan of the Pandya dynasty, symbolizes harmony between Shaivism and Vaishnavism. It also houses shrines for Goddess Gomathi Amman and Lord Sarparaja. The sacred Nagakkinaru (snake well) inside the temple is believed to have holy water with healing powers. The annual Aadi Thabasu festival draws thousands of devotees from across Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
